MARSALA COLOUR MENSWEAR YOU CAN WEAR NOW

Pantone Colour of the Year 2015: Marsala

It's that time of year again: resolutions, dryathalons, Oscar season and of course, the Pantone colour of the year announcement. Since the turn of the millennium, Pantone have been selecting a colour from their books to promote their colour of the year. Last year, Pantone selected Radiant Orchid, a rich fuchsia-pink-purple hue and 2013's choice was the bold Emerald Green.

Now gents, these are certainly not the easiest colours to wear so this years choice may prove to be more favourable for your wardrobes.

2015's selection is Marsala, a rich burgundy shade, sophisticated with earthy tones which translates perfectly into many walks of life, be it fashion or interior design. An excellent accent colour for ties, pocket squares, shoes, socks or as a block colour for knitwear and jackets, Marsala is a seemingly much more versatile colour than previous years for menswear.

Executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®, Leatrice Eiseman, says that "Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability. Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us into its embracing warmth." Who can argue with that? Who doesn't need a little mind, body and soul enriching in the dark, cold winter months?

So what can we wear to be part of the Marsala revolution I hear you say? Well lucky for you, here at MWS we've got your back. We've put together a selection of our favourite items that pay homage to this age old trend.

Puma Burgundy Suede Classic Trainers - Classic trainers have had a resurgence recently, and these suede 60s throwbacks are a class act. Beautiful, simple styling and effortlessly cool.

Pretty Green Burgundy Harrington Jacket - Fan of the 90s rock-pop culture? This trendy, lightweight jacket is made from 100% cotton, with a single button collar opening.

T.M.Lewin Burgundy Blue Pin Spot Silk Tie - Another classic and staple of any gents wardrobe. This little number will add a beautiful hue of Marsala to any grey, black or navy suit, or can be worn under knitwear for a more casual accent.

ASOS Burgundy Turtle Neck Jumper - A big trend last year and one which is showing no signs of slowing is the turtle neck. Comfortable, practical and the epitome of chic, this little burgundy number is a top choice and my pick of the bunch.

ASOS Round Sunglasses - Finally if you're feeling optimistic about the summer, these round sunglasses from Asos are perfect. Lightweight arms, padded nose moulding, trendy dark lenses and 100% UV protection to boot, what's not to love.
